What are the gate opening & closing times just now?
Please look at the top of our website where you will find the daily fishery opening and closing times.
Last entry is 2 hours before the closing time.
Which lakes are day ticket, pleasure fishing and do not require pre-booking?
The following lakes are all available to fish on a day ticket, just turn up and pay at the ticket office or on the bank when our bailiff come around to find you.
- Goldeneye
- Kingfisher
- Little Grebe
- Pintail
- Shoveler
- Wigeon
How do I check if the lakes have availability?

What’s the specimen carp weights in the lakes?
Gadwall is our specimen carp lake and was originally stocked in 2014 with 60 fish all over 20lb. They have thrived and grown since them with multiple fish over 30lbs and the lake record being a mirror carp called Ben weighing 40lb 3oz.
The following are runs waters but all hold some really good specimens:
- Shoveler > 30lb
- Wigeon > 28lb
- Goldeneye > 23lb
Which lakes can I night fish & how do I book?
The following lakes are available for night fishing, sessions run as gate times:
- Gadwall (£25 for 24 hours / £50 for 48 hours)
- Goldeneye (£20 for 24 hours / £40 for 48 hours)
- Kingfisher (£20 for 24 hours / £40 for 48 hours)
- Shoveler (£20 for 24 hours / £40 for 48 hours)
- Wigeon (£20 for 24 hours / £40 for 48 hours)
Advance bookings are necessary, call Toby between 7am & 8pm any day of the week on 07508 903078.
How much is it to join the Gadwall syndicate?
Gadwall is our specimen carp lake with fish to over 40lb, we operate an open membership system with an annual fee of £25 per person.
Once you are a member , ticket prices are as follows:
- £25 annual syndicate fee
- £15 per day
- £25 24 hours
- £50 48 hours
To become a member, call Toby on 07508 903078 between 7am & 8pm any day of the week.
Note: payment of the membership fee is required in advance of your first session booking (bank transfer or cash).
Are there any double pegs on the complex?
All of our lakes have spacious pegs, many of which can comfortably accommodate 2 anglers.
Which lakes are used for open & club matches?
The following lakes are used for match fishing:
- Kingfisher
- Little Grebe
- Pintail
What days are fishing matches held?
Hayton Lakes host open matches every Wednesday and Sunday.
Club matches can take place any day of the week, please check our match board on arrival at the ticket office which is updated every Sunday afternoon for the following week.
What facilities are available onsite?
Facilities include the following:
- 3 toilets
- Sink
- Fresh water
The town of Retford is only a few miles away with multiple supermarkets, petrol stations and Retford Angling Supplies for fishing tackle.
Can you park close to your peg?
Yes, we have gravel track roads around the entire fishery and parking behind or very near to all pegs is possible.
Please drive slowly and be courteous to other road users and fishermen when on-site.
